Hello again peoples…I’ve decided that every other week I will do a book update… Hopefully, it’ll keep me motivated…and y’all can see where I am if you’d like to know…so…on with it I suppose…
Word Count
Since my last post about “When the Tempest Breaks” I have written 1,811 words…putting the draft at 8,095 words…neither of which is a lot…but it’s a lot more than I had been writing before…due to school I haven’t had much time to write…but once the school year is over I’m hoping to see the word count increase much more and with more consistency…
Writer’s Block?
Before I wrote those 1,811 words…I had been struggling with a lot of writer’s block…I couldn’t figure out how to push forward. That was incredibly frustrating for me…because I want to write…but I couldn’t figure out how to write a certain scene…I’d write fifteen or less words per week…I wasn’t happy with myself…or my story…opening the doc was stressful…and I was getting nowhere…But…I decided I had to keep going and find a way around the block…
Going Backward to Go Foward
I know how I want my story to end…I figured it out in my outlining and I’m quite happy with it…the problem was getting there…due to the writer’s block…I couldn’t get to the ending I loved so much…so I made a decision…I decided to just write the ending…writing what I wanted to write…writing what I already had figured out…the ending…the idea is…that I write starting a few scenes before the end until the ending…then a little bit before where I started and on and on…until I reach the scene at the beginning that was giving me trouble…
The Ending
So…I have written the ending…and it is very beautiful in my opinion…I’ve started the scene before the end ones…and writer’s block has disappeared…this is a wonderful thing…all I need to do now is find the time to actually write!
It really is hard to get stuff written during the school year! That's something I'm finding out as I'm working on my book. Praying for you as you write! ❤️🙏🏻
Nice!! You're almost to 10,000 words! PERSEVERE!!
