Introduction…
I was told I should review books I didn’t like…So here’s one…Curse and Consequence by Savannah Jezowski…I’m gonna keep it short…and I’m gonna try to be nice about it…I honestly can not express how much I disliked this book…but…because I’m a nice person…I’m just gonna state my reasons…and NOT go on and on about how terrible it was…I respect authors who put the time in to write a book and have the courage to publish it…I also think that not EVERYONE is going to enjoy EVERY book out there…there might be some people who really enjoy this book…it might be someone’s favorite book…it’s just not mine…and that is that…
The Story…
It’s a fantasy with some romance that follows two brothers, who dislike each, other, and a girl, who is the pig keeper…one of the brothers curses the other one and chaos ensues…so the three have a mission to undo the curse as quickly as possible…It sounds interesting…but it was actually kinda boring…AND all the work they did was just undone at the end of the book by something incredibly small and simple…so it kinda felt pointless to me…
The Characters…
They were somewhat interesting…you have the girl who is learning to be confident…and the boys…well…I think the cursed brother was funny…and he was kinda sweet sometimes…but that was about it…then there’s the other brother who basically looks down on everyone…there is pretty much zero character development…there’s the illusion of character development…one of the characters at the end literally says “I’m a changed man.”…but then IMMEDIATELY after he says that he does the exact same thing as he was doing at the beginning of the book…so it seems he wasn’t so changed after all…and that just kinda bothered me…
The Romance…
Oh…this one makes me sad…because why do they even love each other? There is literally no reason given for them to love each other…and the guy is constantly disproving of the girl finally becoming more confident…but they still get together and it makes no sense whatsoever…I don’t even know…
Content Warnings…
It’s pretty clean…there’s magic…MAYBE some fantasy/minor swearing…but I don’t think so…just putting that in case I forgot…
In Conclusion…
I didn’t enjoy this book…I don’t recommend it…nothing against Savannah Jezowski…I’m sure she’s a wonderful person…I just don’t care for this book of hers…maybe her other books are better…I’ll have to read one or two of them sometime and see…I’m hopeful that she has some better books…if not…I hope she’s learning and getting better…writing is a process and it’s something you get better at over time…Anyway…if you decide to read this book…I do hope you enjoy it more than I did…if you read…or have read it before…please let me know…I’d love to know your thoughts on it!!!
My toxic trait: oh! Someone doesn’t recommend this book! I want to read it. 😅😅
